76 78 80 86 Amc Jeep Cj5 Cj7 Cj8 Factory Auomatic Tilt Steering Column Restored

  
OEM tilt steering column with cruise control correct for 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986 Jeep CJ-5, CJ-7, CJ-8, Scrambler. Column has been stripped to bare metal, etch primed, sanded w/ 400 grit, primed, re-sanded and painted with a quality satin black lacquer. Column was completely taken apart, cleaned, inspected and any worn parts replaced. The bearings were still like new in this column and have been re-greased. The 4 main bolts that make the tilt tight were removed, coated with thread locker, and re-tightened.

Last 2 pictures show this. Tilt is rock solid and has absolutely no loose play. New key lock w/ 2 keys installed.

Turn signal has been replaced. Turn lever is fully functional.

Some wear on the lettering. This column has a 1 splined shaft and measures approx. 33 end of shaft to end of shaft. Note : The plastic shift indicator housing that sits on top of the column was cracked.

I have repaired it with epoxy resin. The only thing is the crack extended through the lens. So there is a very small crack line that can be seen in the lower corner near the L2 L1. Not noticeable unless you look for it but it is there.
